We have over 20 years experience in usability design, human factors management and engineering, project and technology management in a competitive, rapid time-to-market product development environment. We are well-versed with all aspects of end-to-end product development including customer needs analysis, competitive analysis, usability benchmarking and testing, product planning and conceptualization, hardware and software user interface design and specification.

Alex Kang Founder & principal consultant

Alex graduated from Loughborough University of Technology, UK, with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Electronic & Electrical Engineering (1984) and a M.Sc. in IT Human Factors (1985).
He joined the Institute of Systems Science (now known as Institute of Infocomm Research) at the National University of Singapore in 1986 as a software engineer doing research and development in multi-lingual, multi-media graphical software user interfaces.
In 1988, he joined Hewlett-Packard Singapore as their first local R&D human factors engineer. He set up HP's first usability lab in Singapore and established human factors engineering and user-centred design processes as part of the product development lifecycle at the Asia-Pacific Personal Computer Division. This division had the worldwide business charter for the design, development and manufacturing of HP handheld/PDA products including the award-winning HP OmniGo and HP Jornada range of devices.
In 1996, he assumed the role of R&D Project Manager responsible for Industrial Design, Human Factors, Complementary Products (Accessories), Advanced Technology and Lab Systems which provided design support across the entire range of HP Jornada Handheld PC and Pocket PC products.
Over his 14-year career at HP, he was awarded 6 U.S. utility patents.
He was one of the original founding members of the Ergonomics Society of Singapore in the late 80's and has given numerous talks on human factors and user-centred design to audiences in Singapore.
In his leisure time, he enjoys creative pursuits such as music composition and arrangements, photography, conceptualizing new product ideas, playing with electronic gadgets, snorkelling and scuba diving. An avid supporter of marine conservation, he set up Redang Island Rendezvous, a non-profit online travel guide to Redang Island, Malaysia, which seeks to educate visitors about marine conservation and to be responsible visitors. Joyce Kang Co-founder & director, admin & finance

Joyce graduated from Loughborough University of Technology, UK, with a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Computer Studies (1983). She worked as a programmer/analyst with the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong and later as an Informaton Systems Officer with the National Computer Board, Singapore until 1990.
